My dreams came true…

May 14, 2008

Sorry for my brief hiatus. As some of you may know, moving home for the summer from college can be a little crazy.

What I missed…Brooke and Jason’s departures definitely pleased me. I can’t believe that I even liked Jason at first. By the end of it all, he was probably my least favorite. I’m glad he is gone, although he was a sweet kid. I was also extremely happy that America sent Brooke home also. She deserved to leave.

I don’t even think I have to make a prediction as to who goes home tonight. If Syesha stays after last night, I’ll be surprised. Even if she performed the best, I still could never see her in the top two. I think she knows that, too.

Ok, so last night was one of my favorite nights of the whole season. My only wish was that Michael had been in the top three where I thought he would be at this point. Syesha was disappointing, and the producer’s song choice was really odd. I just didn’t enjoy her performances at all. However, her hair looked great.

David Cook was amazing as always, although his performances last night were not my favorite of the season. The arrangement of “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” was really neat. I still hold firm that he’s the one to win.

But some small part of me thinks that David Archuleta will win because everybody loves him. And how could you not? He is cute AND he has a great voice. America loves him, and I do too. But…I still want David Cook to win this year. I feel like he can have more of a career than little David.

So, I guess we’ll find out tonight. Keep your fingers crossed that Syesha goes home, but I don’t really think that will be necessary.

Neil Diamond tonight!

April 30, 2008

Well, I can say that Idol has had some great songwriters this season, and tonight was no exception. Neil Diamond was a lot of fun, and the songs sounded great…for the most part.

Starting off, Jason Castro did pretty good. He’s not that terrible, but all of his performances sound the same. Simon said that he struggled through both songs, and that he hadn’t been himself the past two weeks. I have to say that I agree completely.

I can’t say enough how much I love David Cook. I loved his performance of “I’m Alive” although Simon said it was “okay”. The second song was AWESOME! He has to be this year’s idol, if Brooke and Jason fans don’t mess it up.

Brooke’s first song was terrible in my opinion. The vocals sounded off the entire time. The second song was pretty good, but I don’t think she’s anywhere near the David’s. I used to like Brooke a lot, but for some reason I can’t put my finger on, I don’t like her at all anymore.

David Archuletta had a great night, in my opinion. I liked both of the songs that he sang, although I knew in my heart that he would choose “America” because, as Paula said, it was the perfect song for him to sing.

Syesha’s first song was pretty good, but the best thing I can say about the performance was that her hair looked great. I liked the second performance a lot, and although I think she did a million times better than Jason and Brooke combined…I think she’s going home. Simon agrees.

Tonight was a little weird. Paula was completely out of it, and the arrangement of the show was off. However, despite all of that, I hope that America makes the right choice tonight…it’s time for Brooke to go home.

Another upset…

April 24, 2008

Well, I decided delay my post until tonight to gain a little perspective. Last week I was crying for joy that Kristy Lee had finally parted ways with Idol. This week, I’m a little confused.

Last night was one of the most interesting nights I can remember. Songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber are not what I think of when I think about American Idol, yet I was excited because it’s always nice to switch things up.

Syesha surprised me with a really entertaining performance. I haven’t fully appreciated her voice, or her personality. I can say that after her time is over on Idol, she will certainly have a career on Broadway. I hate to say this…but I…liked her this week.

Jason Castro gets the award for most awkward song choice and performance of all time (Oh wait..that goes to Brooke!) I don’t think he understood what kind of song he was singing. “Memory” is a song that I was almost certain David Archuleta would pick. I was SO surprised that he wasn’t in the bottom two. This proves to me that this show is becoming a popularity contest after all. Speaking of David, he did a great job singing a girls’ song. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be in the top two.

Poor Brooke. I felt sorry for her, but even after the mishap she didn’t sing the song very well. To be honest, I didn’t think she could sing it even under the best of circumstances. Brooke is really sweet, and obviously has a huge fan base, but she hasn’t stood out in a long time.

Carly…I’m extremely sad to see her go, especially when she had a great performance and Brooke and Jason have been having average ones. I don’t feel like she deserved to go. I’m not sure what happened this week. My only explanation is that Brooke and Jason have won over America’s hearts instead of their ears.

Lastly..David Cook wowed us again. I have seen Phantom on Broadway, and I swear that he sounded better than the guy singing in the show. I think he’s going to be the next Idol. There’s no doubt he’s the most talented person on the show, with little David being a close second.

So…I hope that next week goes better. I’d like to dedicate this post to Michael Johns and Carly Smithson…Idols gone too soon. Until then!

An “inspirational” week on Idol..

April 10, 2008

Well, imagine my surprise when Kristy Lee hung on for another week. I’m not going to say that she’s going home this week, though, because I always seem to jinx myself.

Poor Ramiele…she was so cute, but I think she had reached her peak long ago. I’m not sad that she’s gone, but I feel like she could have surprised us later on down the line. Speaking of surprises, Brooke White surprised many people by being in the bottom three last week, but she may as well get comfortable there because her performance this week was dismal.

Michael Johns did great this week, in my opinion. Simon claims that he’s becoming a “wannabe”, but I couldn’t disagree more. He has stood out the entire competition, and tonight’s performance leads me to believe that he will be in the top three.

In contrast, David Cook really disappointed me this week. I like the song that he chose, but there was something off about it. I’m going to go ahead and say that he will not be in the bottom three because he has a huge following.

Syesha and Kristy Lee were one in the same for me, last night. There is nothing that stands out about either of these girls. Kristy Lee is mediocre to the highest degree, and I can’t believe that she comes back each week. I feel that at this point in the competition, the dead weight is being weeded out. So, the next to go has to be Kristy Lee or Syesha.

Jason Castro was great last night! I loved the song he sang, and he really does have a distinctive style and voice that will get him noticed whether or not he wins Idol or not.

David Archuleta was my favorite. “Angels” is an awesome song, and I love the way he sang last night. David is also one of my picks for the top three.

Carly Smithson isn’t getting any better, but isn’t getting any worse. Her performance of a Queen song got mixed reviews from the judges, and I think she’s losing steam. I really hope she steps it up next week because I don’t think she’s going home.

A little side note..as anyone noticed that Randy is the new Simon? His comments keep getting harsher. I would be impressed if I could understand what he was saying half the time.

SO, I have been wrong, but my tentative picks for the bottom three: Brooke, Syesha, and Kristy Lee. I would almost say Carly, but I am not sure. I think Syesha is going home this week. What do you think? The competition is getting good, but I have a feeling that it will be between three guys this year to win.

Also, Idol Gives Back was great tonight! I hope you enjoyed it.

Interesting night on Idol..

March 26, 2008

Tonight was definitely interesting on Idol. The contestants sang songs from the year of their birth, which wasn’t my favorite category, but it was neat to see what the contestants did with it.

First of all..the great performances went to the two leading men this season, Michael Johns and David Cook. Michael has a real talent for singing Queen, and tonight’s performance was awesome. He certainly chose the right song this week.

David Cook blew everyone away this week with a stellar performance. It was so good, in fact, that the judges have picked him to win the competition. His interesting and courageous arrangement of “Billie Jean” was one of my favorite performances this season. I would have to agree with the judges and say that he is the one to beat this season.

Carly took a song I liked, and didn’t do a lot with it. The performance was okay, but she really needs to step it up. I guess we’ll see tomorrow if she will be in the bottom three, although I doubt that will happen again anytime soon.

Agreeing with the judges, I wish that Brooke White had not incorporated the band in her performance. It started off really strong, but she struggled to make it really amazing. Brooke has had two weaker performances in a row, which may hurt her soon, but not in the near future. Another blah performance goes to Ramiele. I just do not care for her at all, and her performance this week just didnt cut it, although Simon said that it was good enough to make it through to next week.

Another disappointment would have to be Jason Castro. Jason is really cute, but cute can only take you so far. He needs to prove to the judges that he’s more than just a pretty face that can play guitar.

Syesha did pretty good. I personally enjoyed the performance, surprisingly enough, but I have a feeling she will be in the bottom three next week. Her rendition of “If I Were Your Woman” was strong, but I don’t think America likes her.

I was not feeling David Archuleta at all this week. I couldn’t recognize the song he sang, and I can promise you that I would have hated the original version. The judges had mixed comments. Randy seemed to think that David’s “got mad skills” whereas Simon compared it to a theme park performance (whatever that is). I’m crossing my fingers that he does better next week because I’m positive he’ll make it through.

Now..the worst of the night would have to go to Chikezie (or Chikcheezy). Chikcheezy has a pretty good voice, but his performance was, as the name goes, CHEESY. I am almost for sure that he will be in the bottom three, and might be the one to go home.

Although Kristy Lee wasn’t the worst…my dislike for her has prejudiced me. I think the song choice was really really odd, and I was totally surprised that the judges didn’t hate it. I pray that she’s the one that goes home. She just isn’t talented enough to be on that show.

So…my predictions for the bottom three are: Kristy Lee, Chikezie and Syesha. We’ll see what happens.

Until next time!
